Kitty is being very mellow and quiet so far, and has spent most of the morning napping on a windowsill. I introduced her to Gretchen while Gretchen was crated, and that went okay. (Except for Gretchen getting out her harmonica and playing the "My Monkey Crated Me For No Reason Blues". Today I may try some crateless introduction and see how that goes.
