Today I went back to Atomic Tattoo to spend another three hours of quality time with Scott-my-tattooist-Scott. As you can see, Scott is very good at fine line work. And I figured if he wants to draw a thousand tiny circles, the least I can do is sit still and not whimper.

I'm so ridiculously happy with Octopussy. The detail is gorgeous, and I love the way he wraps around the yellow sign. Also, the line work was less painful than the shading on my skull, and hasn't bled at all. I'm going back in two weeks-ish to figure out the colors. Right now I'm leaning toward octopus-colored (maybe something like this), but with the pink and purple tones brightened to make it pop.

After a conversation with the tattoo-boys about mermaids and breast-size, I've promised myself a mermaid (of the creepy and small-boobed variety) if I lose ten pounds. That's an extra impetus for Project Valkyrie.

And I got a bonus dose of The Glamour for free. I gave Scott a copy of TDC, and he mentioned it to a coworker. Coworker responds, "Oh, I just read your story in Lovecraft Unbound last night." That was the best thing to happen to my PMS-stifled ego all week.

Rad!

Well, that partially answers my question in re: hours over at FB--you're a badass. The only piece I have was about an hour and I was crying the whole time. I'm both looking forward to and dreading my next piece.

Yeah, this one was just under three hours, and I imagine the coloring will take nearly as long. My skull on the other arm took the same amount of time, but had shading as well as line work--that hurt a lot. The lines are no problem, but putting the needle back over the already-brutalized bits is evil.

That's gorgeous :D

Best of luck for project Valkyrie (and not just because I want to see the creepy small-chested mermaid...)

Oh the awesomeness of the octopus... YAY!

(For your photo reference pleasure, I note that the octopus in my icon is not photoshopped in any way; she is, in fact, octopus colored.)

(I am late, bc life has been busy, but)

That is even cooler than it sounded when you were describing it. :) I can't wait to see it when it's all done!
