Red Sonja, alas, doesn't hold up even remotely as well as Destroyer. Brigitte Nielson's mullet has no rival, but Sandahl Bergman's evil queen outfits suck, and Barbarian is a more feminist film. I've made a note that my next book needs a badass lesbian warrior queen, though.

Maybe Mad Max Beyond Raganarok should end with Sigrun becoming queen....

Red Sonja was awful. Destroyer was only good for laughs. Barbarian was the only remotely worthwhile flick of the three.

Saying Destroyer holds up better than Red Sonja is damning with some pretty faint praise, but I hear you--we recently re-watched 'em both and man, did I like some dumbass movies as a kid. Grace Jones still rules the school, of course...

The same guy made both of them, which makes a lot of sense--his manifest love of wise-cracking sidekicks is excruciating.
