Inglourious Bastards was entertaining. The casting was fabulous. My god! Germans being played by Germans, instead of Brits in every European role! Til Schweiger was adorable as always, and Christoph Waltz walked off with every scene he was in. Eli Roth was also surprisingly adorable. And the use of "Cat People" was the most hilarious use of music in a film since the Fine Young Cannibals started playing in Doomsday. Reader, I howled.

But, Tarantino couldn't resist the feet, and I'm so sick of feet he gets five demerits for every foot I see. And I'm not sure how I feel about the story. I mean, I love Wolfenstein as much as the next girl. Shooting Nazis doesn't get old. But there's clever and thoughtful alternate history, and then there's...slush.

But a pretty entertaining two and a half hours, all in all. Now I need to see if this headache will go away in time for me to climb or if I'm staying home and staring at my book until one of us flinches.

I enjoyed the movie because I went into it expecting solely to be entertained. I try not to pick too hard at Tarantino or I stop liking it. *g* But "Basterds" was a lot of fun, and that was what I wanted from it.

I think I can pretty much say that over here in the UK, we are even more sick of being required to play all the bad guys. Hollywood casting is one of my hot buttons.

Yes, I can imagine that must be annoying. I get aggravated because most European ethnicities don't actually look alike, even if they are all white. Of course, Hollywood is convinced that no one can tell Chinese and Japanese actors apart, too.

Indeed. And Art Malik does not look Middle Eastern (nor, much though I love him, does Naveen Andrews). The recent Avatar debacle is the worst of all -- not only patronising and racist but stupid. Bah.
End of rant: apologies. Sometimes being British (but not a Brit -- I hate that word!) has its moments.
