Reason for stopping: end of chapter

Darling: Tea washed away the taste of tears, replaced salt with bitter; leaves clung to the sides of the cup, swirled lazily in the dregs.
Mean things: Still more unpleasant revelations for Zhirin. You can never go home again.
In the next chapter, the ball! Dancing and pretty dresses, and a dozen people trying to conspire while not being obvious about it. I can already tell I need to go back and layer more of these conspiracies in from the beginning. One of my new psycho-twin antags wants some pov, but she hasn't given me enough plot to justify it. Not to mention three of my four povs are female, and I should probably at least make some token gesture toward gender equality. :P I would give pov to my Mysterious Hot Guy, but then he wouldn't be very mysterious anymore.
And I wrote a blurb for the damn thing, but I hate it and need to stab it several more times before I inflict it on you.
