Still here, still alive. Still NaNoing, though I'm not posting updates. I'll wait till the end of the month.

I woke up this morning with my brain being eaten by fairy tales. In particular, fairy tales with cute girls and wolves. (Yes, I watched all three Ginger Snaps in a row and my brain will never be the same.)

Can anyone think of any werewolf tropes that I could dissect for use in fairy-tale land?

Um, the only one I can think of at the moment I'm not telling you because it's mine. Mine, mine, mine!

The romantic sad werewolf who is in love with a human woman, so tragic and so very Hammer Horror.

I've not seen the third Ginger Snaps film, but the other two were good, I'll have to look out for it.

Is Ginger Snaps a Red Riding Hood retelling? I should look into them; I remember that I had a strange fascination for the movie The Company of Wolves back in HS.

I've always enjoyed fairy-tale retellings where the "heroine gets saved" version is recast with the girl saving herself. If you haven't already found it, you might enjoy poking around this site (http://www.surlalunefairytales.com/). They seem to have a lot of Red Riding Hood info.

Good luck with NaNoWriMo!

Not really. It hits me with shades of Snow White & Rose Red (sans bear), and that's the story my brain is trying to play with now.

The Company of Wolves is entertaining. I should watch it again.
