The first line/paragraph WiP meme:

Dreams of Shreds & Tatters
In her dreams she drowned.

The King of Moths
Blood ran like rainwater on the television screen, dripped cherry-bright down the walls. Somewhere off-screen a woman screamed. Some Italian horror movie, the VHS probably older than Blake, grainy and crackling but still the safest place to look at the moment.

Crepuscule
Death was no stranger within the walls of Erisin.

Prayers to Broken Stone
Rain fell on the rue du Dragon, poured from the gutters and dripped from curling wrought iron balconies to splash against the cobbles below.

Halls of Dust & Clay
The Terminal is never beautiful.

The Drowning City
Symir. The Drowning City. An exile, but at least it was an interesting one.

"Fossil Heart"
Nan woke to thunder, to the press of hot flesh and a weight on her chest that stole her breath.

"Waiting for the Frog"
Fog rolled over the bayou, smoke and mirrors.

Lailah's story
She watches from her tower as the sky burns.

Salem's story
Salem woke to the wind keening through branches, air whistling over narrow glass mouths, and a trapped soul sobbing in the autumn darkness. The bottle tree had caught another ghost.

The snake-charmer story
Halloween in the Garden of Eden. Freaks, geeks, and tattooed women.

The Dogtown sequel, possibly called "Goodnight Moon"
Sephie found her ex-boyfriend in the history aisle, perusing the titles and dripping blood on the worn green carpet. He'd been dead for six months.

Maybe someday I'll finish some of these.

I love every one of those opening lines. I'm deeply jealous you know. So finish these so I can be jealous of all your shiny sales. :)
