The hell of ten thousand stairs
Jan. 20th, 2011 05:48 pmMy stairs have a lot of carpet brads in them. Imagine a number of carpet brads you consider "a lot". Now remove those, with tiny pliers. Now look again and realize you still have about that many left to go. Apply pliers and tiny pry-bars once more. Now look again, and find more hiding under paint, dry wall splatter, and stray carpet fuzz. Remove those. Now realize you still have a dozen under the lip of each stair. Remove. Declare it done. Look again--find a dozen more.
Eventually the stairs have to run out of tacks, right? Then I get to pad and caulk all the gaps around the steps, then sand them all. Then, perhaps, I can paint.
