Is there a tactician in the house?
Aug. 1st, 2010 06:47 pmI have written myself into a quandary. In the foothills of a mountain range, there is an entrance to an underground salt mine. This mine has been seized by warlords. It's presently full of soldiers and enslaved miners. And salt. My intrepid heroes would like to "liberate" the mine, but without killing the miners or damaging the mine. How might they go about luring the soldiers out, and into an ambush?
12. In what story did you feel you did the best job of worldbuilding? Any side-notes on it you'd like to share?
Since the Necromancer Chronicles are my only serious second-world project, I pick them. It's not exactly worldbuilding of staggering genius, since it's so earth-derived, but I've had fun. Side notes actually appear in The Bone Palace, in the form of appendices. I'll also stick them on my website as soon as the book is out.
I've reached the stage of plague where all that's left is fatigue and the d-mn cough. Since I've been good about avoiding dairy for days, there's no goo for the cough to bring up, so it's just hacking and spiteful.
