Octopussy, or the hell of tiny suckers
Mar. 23rd, 2010 04:03 pmToday I went back to Atomic Tattoo to spend another three hours of quality time with Scott-my-tattooist-Scott. As you can see, Scott is very good at fine line work. And I figured if he wants to draw a thousand tiny circles, the least I can do is sit still and not whimper.
I'm so ridiculously happy with Octopussy. The detail is gorgeous, and I love the way he wraps around the yellow sign. Also, the line work was less painful than the shading on my skull, and hasn't bled at all. I'm going back in two weeks-ish to figure out the colors. Right now I'm leaning toward octopus-colored (maybe something like this), but with the pink and purple tones brightened to make it pop.
After a conversation with the tattoo-boys about mermaids and breast-size, I've promised myself a mermaid (of the creepy and small-boobed variety) if I lose ten pounds. That's an extra impetus for Project Valkyrie.
And I got a bonus dose of The Glamour for free. I gave Scott a copy of TDC, and he mentioned it to a coworker. Coworker responds, "Oh, I just read your story in Lovecraft Unbound last night." That was the best thing to happen to my PMS-stifled ego all week.
