Girl vs. rock, Wiktory!
Oct. 11th, 2008 07:05 pmToday, I went with my ladies' night top-roping group (the instructor and her hubby own the gym) to Reimers Ranch Park to climb. Most. Fun. Ever.
For starters, the park is one of the most gorgeous places in Texas I've seen--all crags and gullies and ferns and butterflies, along the Pedernales. Gretchen also loved it, even if we had to dog-hoist up some of the steeper paths. The climbing cliffs were well shaded, with lots of comfy places to sit.
And for optimal awesomeness, I sent every route I started: a 5.5, 5.8 and two 5.9s. My instructor didn't tell us the grades till we were done, so I got a very nice holy shit! moment after discovered I'd done two 5.9s in a row. (For full disclosure, I was dogging the rope like a dogging thing the whole damn way up the last one.)
There will be pictures eventually, possibly including some of me being manatee-hoisted. But first I'm going to scrub off the filth and eat a plate of Mexican food bigger than my head, before my arms become too weak to lift a fork.
