I'm not an addict (maybe that's a lie)

So, umm... Is anyone else noveling in January? I'm already bored with not-writing, and am considering Nin90'ing Prayers on the 1st. At least until my readers get back to me about TDC and I have to start revising. If nothing else, I can at least fix the first 20k, which were apparently attacked by the Suck Gnomes while I wasn't looking.

Anyone else starting something new? Finishing something? Printing something out and setting it on fire?

I also really and truly need to write some new short stories, as I'm down to two circulating and one in bad need of a revision before it leaves the house.

I am suddenly stricken with the urge to make a Man vs. Wild vid to Combichrist's "Shut Up and Swallow".

2006 Goals

• Send out queries for Dreams.


• Finish the Tindalosi stories.


• Finish eight short stories. (Only managed 5 and a poem)


• Finish a novel.


• Sell another short story.

2007 Goals

• Finish TDC, or die trying. And I didn't die!


• Finish eight (later revised to six) short stories. (Only managed four and a poem)


• Pick the Next Book. I think I have, anyway.


• Sell another story.

2008 Goals

• Revise TDC and send out queries.


• Write a significant chunk of The Next Book--at least 50k.


• Finish novels faster--this can also be 2009's goal, given my previous speeds.


• Write more short stories--maybe I should just give up on the numbered goals. :P


• Sell another story.

I accomplished last year's non-writing-related goal, which was move out of that sad little apartment in Denton. This year's non-writing goal is to find a decent day job. Or, yanno, land a fancy agent and sell a book and not have to. :P
