Reason for stopping: I have to figure out if this scene ends in a massacre or not.

Mammalian assistance: the cat has a breath weapon, and she's not afraid to use it.
Other assistance: I wrong wrote the last 300 words to Lynch's Dune. In between the screaming at the TV and the howls of laughter. That movie is crack. Bad, bad, voice-over crack.

So I figured out the way to get through tough scenes: write badly. This scene has no setting, no detail, and a whole lot of suck, but it's very nearly done. Also, I took most of the daring out of the piracy.

(Ack, ack, they put an expository voice-over intro on Firefly! Please, god, make the voice-overs stop!)

Another 500 words today, and the completely undaring non-piracy is done. Yeah, months of spazzing, three days of actual writing. :P I need to go through and add more detail and remove more suck before I send it to any of my lovely volunteers.

Now I need to write the tsunami, fill in one pov up to the eruption, write a post-eruption stunt writey bit, and then sort out who dies and finish the denouement. This ending is gradually becoming less scary. For today, at least.

But, far cooler than the book, I bought a bread robot today! It is currently industriously mixing apple cinnamon bread, like a virtuous robot. Hopefully it won't rise up and kill us in the night.
