Bookkeeping
Oct. 5th, 2007 03:18 pmBecause I'm bored, and my characters seem to have gone on vacation.
( Read so far )
What I'm reading now:
Beowulf - Caitlin R. Kiernan
Wormwood - Poppy Z. Brite
Purchased recently:
Terminal - Andrew Vachss
One For Sorrow - Chris Barzak (I didn't realize this was A Novel--I'm so glad the publisher decided to tell me so on the cover. I might have been terribly confused. :P )
Blood Magic - Matthew Cook
Butcher Bird - Richard Kadrey
The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror 2007
Books I've had for a while that I really need to finish--really:
The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova
Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell - Susannah Clarke
House of Leaves - Mark Danielewski
Skin - Kathe Koja (Does anyone know, is that "kathee kohja"? My inner German speaker insists it should be "katteh koya")
Course of the Heart - M. John Harrison
I didn't used to be such a flake about finishing other people's novels. I've always been a flake about finishing mine.

Adventures in bookherding
Oct. 5th, 2007 06:03 pmHah! I have managed to fit all my fiction* from Richard Adams to Roger Zelazny on one 4x4 cube Ikea bookcase, while maintaining alphabetization and some rude shelving aesthetic**! And it doesn't appear to be about to collapse. Of course, as soon as I did this I realized the shelf would look much better if I moved it...
Now if only I had a shelf for the non-fiction, the gaming books, and all the graphic novels.
----------
* Not counting duplicates (between me and Steven we have three copies of The Silmarillion and three copies of Children of Dune, and doubles of a lot of other things), or books I bought for lit classes and will never read again but never managed to sell back.
** I suspect this will survive two more trips to the bookstore. Assuming any boxes of books aren't still lurking in the garage. I know I'm missing some.
