The plague is dead! Long live the plague. All that's left now is the lingering crap in my lungs and sinuses that's trying to leave as fast as it can. So today I had my first coffee in over a week. It was a double. That noise is my head exploding.
Last night, the boy and I were having a tangental discussion about some of the world-building stuff in my mythosverse, and my virtue was tested in the form of another novel that's been accreting for a while standing up and doing a little sexy dance. (It's my scion-of-a-creepy-family book, the response to The Witching Hour and the Scarabae books, and I hope one day it will be very shiny.) And lo, I was sorely tempted to ditch Prayers and run off with this nameless other book for a tacky Vegas wedding. (The lack of a title is a sure sign its sexy dancing is all a tease.)
But I resisted.
And shortly thereafter, the motivations of my antag were unearthed, and the first third or so of Prayers obtained a shape, and goals. And there was much rejoicing.
So now I just need to go back and add the structure into the first 20k so I can see it.
This was meant to be a romance, structurally, but Holly is having none of that. So Cate and Adrian are living in a paranormal, and Holly is living in a spy thriller.
In other news, another 500 words on "Blue Valentine" yesterday (more expository dialogue!), bringing it to 4k, which I believe is critical mass for completion. I just have to go back and add, yanno, plot.
