Someone has a post up on the work shop titled "Ye Olde Magick Shoppe."
*deep breath*
Would it be worth it, do you think, to explain that ye in Old English only means you? The abomination that is 'ye' for 'the' was caused by scribes who abbreviated the thorn in 'the' by only drawing the bottom half. The bottom half of a thorn looks like a y. And lo, much confusion was born unto the world.
There is a Ye Olde Storage Place in Denton. I keep meaning to write out an explanatory treatise and nail it to their door.

Date: 2005-03-09 06:56 pm (UTC)A lot of current church hymns really screw things up too. Makes me want to spork all my fellow church goers. Example:
"My soul longeth after thee.
You alone are my heart's desire"
Switches mid-song from Ye Olde English. *giggle*
