2,000+ words today on Kingdoms, finishing two partial chapters and taking me past 60k. My antag finally did something creepy.

Because it entertains me, I'm stealing an idea from [livejournal.com profile] gailcarriger: character studies. Images, actors, music, etc. that remind me of people in my books. And to start, of course, is everyone's favorite underfed necromancer with relationship issues.

Isyllt Iskaldur

The light was unkind when she drew aside her scarf--she'd lost weight where she had none to spare, and bruises darkened her cold grey eyes. With her pale skin she looked like a bardi beyaz--the white jackal women who prowled cemeteries and sang for those about to die. (Kingdoms of Dust)

"If her magic didn't kill me, her hipbones would." (The Drowning City)

I'm sparing you the autopsy photos, but they're with us in spirit.

I was picturing Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black) while reading "The Drowning City" actually. Especially Aeryn Has a Mental Break in Season 3 and Sees Dead People.

Isyllt's so unique I wasn't certain who I pictured (I'm always casting characters, whether they're my own or someone else's), but now I do. Yay!

As far as her ring, I imagined something a little bigger. I have a sizable onyx set in silver raven talons that I immediately pictured when reading TDC--it's a little heavy, as though weighed down with souls. ;-)

Yeah, her ring is bigger and plainer. Google wasn't giving me a lot of great images to work with.

Claudia Black/Aeryn Sun is pretty damn close to what I pictured.

60K? Excellent. I need to get to work myself here...

You combine one of my favorite songs, one of my favorite actresses (whose face I saw in my mind's eye when reading about Isyllt), and one of my favorite books.

Hello there, giddy glee.
