The State of the Mop (kindness of strangers edition)

I took the Mop* to the vet this morning--no microchip, and no Lost Dog posters fitting his description. He's going back this afternoon for a proper checkup. In the meantime, he continues to be the nicest dog ever, and is fabulous in the car. He even perked up when "Rainbow in the Dark" came on the radio.

Here is the part where I shamelessly beg the internet for help. The Mop is wonderful and friendly and adorable, and I'm sure I'll find him a good home, but I really don't want to dump him at the shelter and hope for the best. He needs a serious grooming, and a round of shots before that (though hopefully not any operations--I can't judge the state of his harbls in his present condition), and I am really freakin' broke right now.

I'll be having a jewelry sale all week, which will help with Mop-related expenses. But if you're not interested in or can't afford jewelry, and have a few dollars to spare, a tiny dog and I will be eternally grateful. I can take PayPal at exoblivione AT gmail DOT com, or hopefully through the magic button below.

And remember, this tiny dog loves you, and wants to give you kisses.

*To recap for anyone who missed my first post, I found a tiny dog running in our busy street yesterday. Collar but no tags, No one in our neighborhood knows him, and he's so horribly filthy that he must have been outside for a while. He was all too happy to come home with me.

I feel your pain. My boyfriend picked up a stray dog that had been hit by a car two weeks ago... and we still have the dog. He's super sweet but nobody is looking for him. We hope to find him a good home too.

Good luck to both of us.

Hm. What part of Texas are you in, Amanda?

You might check with the animal shelter to see if anyone posted a lost little dog there. I did that when Buck disappeared. Of course, the people who picked him up didn't bother to check with them or he would have been home in less than a day.

My boss is mightily interested -- her mother-in-law wants but does not have a dog. I'll drop you and her a line and get you hooked up.

(Oh, and this is Ken in Dallas.)
