Moss trolls ahoy

I'm trying to come up with a term for "gothic," specifically the style of gothic literature--horror, romance, melodrama, ruins, running about in nightgowns, etc. Latin and Greek are my roots of choice. I'm considering something based on letum, but not completely sold.

Any ideas?
