And we're happy here but we live in fear

Reason for stopping: turning into a pumpkin
Mean things: Typhus!
Deaths: none yet
I am trying to rejig my first two chapters to give them something that passes for tension. I think I've succeeded with chapter 1, but I'm left with a lot of boring-but-darling scenes that I still hope to repurpose. I'm also trying my hand at thriller-style POV of convenience. We'll see how long I can keep that up.
Tonight I worked with the first disc of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy playing in the background. It makes me miss the days when people in films had conversations. Where, in fact, nearly all the important bits were happening during conversations, and you only get one exploding car for several hours of story. Not to mention the nested flashbacks which the viewer was expected to keep track of with no hand-holding. And Alec Guinness being cranky at people. It can't beat The Ipcress File, though, as it lacks the unbearable hotness of Michael Caine.
