Since I'd rather do any catwaxy worldbuildy thing besides actually work on a novel, I think I'll try to picnic-march (which is like death-marching, but with sandwiches and naps) some short stories before Readercon.

"Bone Garden"
Words today: 550
Words total: 2291
Reason for stopping: It's two in the morning, and I have a headache.
Sustenance: Tazo berryblossom white, dates, chocolate, and lemon stilton, because I cannot. Stop. Snacking.
Tyop: frozen in her lack
Darling: For a moment she looked like Ophelia in Undine, frozen in her lake. He wished he knew how to recreate the image on stage.
Yes, Gentian makes me think up fake operas. I suspect that's a little too cutely meta, but I can't think of a name that unpacks so easily that's less obvious. Any suggestions?
Mean things: shame, guilt, unpleasant memories, pleasant memories
Quirks: I can't stop the cousincest vibes from pouring off the page, even though Gentian swears he doesn't have the hots for the girl. I say he's in denial, he says I'm projecting. But since I'm writing the damn thing, he should really just lie back and think of England.
Research: If I could stop and wiki a thing, by god I did. Examples include: Erisinian tap water and what it might smell/taste like, Ukrainian food, the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, sea monsters, fake operas, and Hungarian grammar. Much of this was not directly relevant to the story. :P I also need to make a map of the city and figure out what goes where, but that can wait till tomorrow.

I still don't know what the demons are doing.

Picnic-march Day 2:

"Bone Garden"
Words today: 709
Words total: 3,000
Reason for stopping. Nice round number

They pulled the patented my-character trick of "Let's talk about the plot in the morning." This is their second favorite trick, right behind "Let's go somewhere else to talk about the plot." I expect these two to conveniently trip over a coffee-shop in the next scene. :P

In other news, I've decided to stick Hag & Werewolf in my Cthulhuverse. Maybe they can have adventures with Odin and his circus, in between the hating and hungering.

Bookkeeping:

#10. The Salt Roads - Nalo Hopkinson

Kino-running:

#45. Ghostbusters (rewatch)

#46. 2010

Hal made me cry like a kid with skinned knee.
