As easy as falling off a wall
Apr. 22nd, 2008 10:03 pmAfter an embarrassing hiatus, Project: Valkyrie is back in action. Tonight I started climbing. Due to a scheduling snafu, I don't actually get to start lessons till May, but the nice boy let me climb for free tonight, and I can take advantage of Ladies' Night on Monday. I would have spent a lot more time being shy and watching people (and ogling well turned calves), but a nice girl started giving me pointers and helping me find routes.
The straight slab wall is easy, but anything inclined or overhung reveals how pathetic my upper body strength is. And my stamina is just as bad. But the rush when you get one hold higher than you did the last time is really nice. And the falling is kinda fun after a while.
I suspect I'm going to have useless T-rex arms in the morning; small objects are already twice as heavy as they should be.
