These books have the shiniest damn worldbuilding ever. I want to grab it and roll around in it. I want a badger that turns into a tea kettle right now!
My only problem with this, and Snake Agent before it, is a sort of discrepency in tone. The worldbuilding and plot and conflicts are all very noir, but the emotions and resolutions are clair, and this rings discordant in my head. But I think this is a feature, not a bug, and does not keep the books from being utterly delightful.
Badger!tea kettle!
And reading it has certainly produced the desired effect--Isyllt is currently kicking the back of my chair saying she wants a demon right now please. And also a pony. Ungrateful wretch! I give her a wide array of hot boys to choose from, and now she wants me to create a whole new one.
