The Drowning City
Words today: 1,638
Words total: 28,388
Reason for stopping: out of steam
Sustenance: not enough
Tyop: "I'm boing to leave", tall pointed dears
Darling: Just take a breath, she thought, wild and reckless. The river will take the pain.
Mean things: Explosions, capsizing. Isyllt is currently nearly drowning and being attacked by a river monster.
Deaths: I'll calculate at the end of the scene, but I bet someone's dead already.

I think I'm getting the hang of this book, she said foolishly. It does not like linear writing, preferring instead a half-dozen scene fragments at a time, which I'm later expected to go back and put in order with transitions and all that crap. It's also awfully nice about not making me fuss with mistakes. There are ten billion things I need to fix, but I'm leaving notes and moving on. It's liberating right now, but I bet the next draft will be ten shades of hell. :P

Soon, I will go home and read more of tLoLL.

Does anyone out there in LJ land have a version of The Pirate's Song they could share? I covet it with fierce covetousness.

And thou shalt reign queen, and our empire shall last
'Til the black flag, by inches, is torn from the mast
