Headless zombies

I lay in bed last night talking to the cats and finally worked some sense into this zombie scene, but now I find myself freaking out when I try to write it. Is there a fundamental problem with the scene? Do I need a total restructure? Am I just working myself up over nothing?

Excuse me while I run around screaming and flailing for a while.
