Zombies and zombies and zombies, oh my
Jan. 13th, 2005 11:17 amThey're cloning, I think.
I'm looking at the second draft of Dreams and seeing a lot of darlings that may need killing. Among them are the recreation of a certain scene in Labyrinth, with the part of Sara being played by Liz, and the blue muppet worm being played by a certain dead satirist. This scene makes me happy in a masturbatory kind of way, but I fear that A) I can't pull it off, and B) It doesn't do enough to be worth keeping. I also worry about the way zombie-Rae disappears toward the end. I hope I don't have to unperson her. The cat can't make up his mind if he's coming or going, either. I'll let my beta-readers have the whole thing before I make any decisions, though.
And I'm still brainstorming on the Isyllt book, since the ghouls aren't talking to me at the moment. (I suspect a trap.) And I tripped over a character from a few brainstorms ago named Rahaela. Who calls herself Rae. And she's trying to explain to me how she was turned and left as an example when zombies killed her family. And I told her, sorry, I already have a zombie named Rae. She says, well, that's not my problem, is it. So apparently Raes are all zombies with smart mouths.
They never give me a moment's peace.
On a happier note, 500+ words last night, and I filled another narrative gap this morning at work. On tiny pieces of library scratch paper that are now shoved in my pocket--note to self: don't wash these jeans tonight. Liz and Blake will be out of Carcosa soon, and then it all starts to slope toward the end.
